Hey there guys I was wondering if there "official" system requirements for Puppy or what? Thankx

There is a recommended minimum system requirements page in the link below.

http://www.goosee.com/puppy/wikka/MinReq. This may have some flexibility added to it now however, as people seem to get Puppy running on allsorts nowadays.

Are you having bother with an install? or is it just a general question to see if Puppy will work for you?
If you have a specific computer in mind for Puppy, let us know the spec on it and we'll try to advise better.

Have a couple of old portables in the garage not up to the rec min spec (200MMX, 64MB RAM)

Thinkpad 760CD 90Mz 16MB RAM 1.2GB HDD

Thinkpad 560E 166 Mz 32MB Ram 2.1 HDD

Just need to hook them upto the interent - ideally wireless or DSL - with a browser, email client, word processor and SS.

Any suggestions of how this would go greatly appreciated

As for the first computer:
It will be quite difficult to have linux (any linux) to run Graphically on 16 MB at 90 Mz.

You could still run linux command line on that computer and use a console browser like links (elinks, linx), e-mail and word processor.

Alternativelly you could try Opie I've seen people running it on a laptop with exactly those specs.

As for the second computer
It won't be the fastest. The other day dougtheslug (forum name) brought one like that to my home to configure puppy. I was suprised that the computer was quite usable.

You will need to set up a swap partition for it to work, and I would recommend doing a HDD install so you leave RAM for executing programs.

So, yes, this is an ideal candidate for Puppy.

I am impressed with menuetOS. I put it on a floppy and it ran impecable. What's more the interruption level programming is extremelly simple. They expose a very clean set of functions.

I'll try the rest latter (Althoug my desktop does not even have a floppy.
