I use a Palemoon 27.9.4 browser in my Lucid 5.2.8.7. I have recently had problems with dowloading some free manuals from manualslib.com, because I was not recognized by their reCaptcha. You know the pop-up window with never ending clicking on cars, sign posts, shop windows in the fu...ing bot-capturing application reCaptcha from Google. (not to be confused with the excellent BotDetect Captcha from http://captcha.com )
And this is probably the reason:

We support the two most recent major versions of the following:
desktop (Windows, Linux, Mac)
Chrome
Firefox
Safari
IE / Edge
mobile
Chrome
Safari
Android native browser

I strongly oppose the idea that some dominating, large companies shall limit my choice of programs to browse websites!

To ensure I am not totally wrong and blame others for my own faults, can someone else using Lucid and PM please try to download something from manualslib.com? (they cover all subjects, I tried to download a service manual for a Pfaff 360 sewing machine)

I agree. I am totally against this. The site gave me a hassle about my browser....except I am using the latest greatest firefox...which is a major supported browser.......just crappy lazy programmers.

here is the manual for you

I think the solution is to learn how to swap the User Agent String.

I don't use Palemoon so I don't know if it's the same, but in FF, you can go to about:config -> accept the risk -> search for: gerneral.useragent.override

Then try different strings until you find what works. Go here to research: http://useragentstring.com/

It strikes me that any site who makes it this difficult for people to go there do not want the business.
There is security and there is paranoia and there is stupidity.

I think it is more the programmers / developers only want to write code for a couple of browsers because it is not easy to make a site work the same on each flavor of browser. Take video streams.....super pain making it possible to see a video the same way across a range of browsers....all slightly different.

some javascript works one way on one and another way on the other.

Good design practice is to use older browsers on older systems.... ... (though for video seems mp4/h264/mp3 is the closest to work for all.) and no excuse when being paid thousands to use sites that perform validation and rendering checks.....

well in a perfect world lol....

Thank you for the feedback, I think we have the same view on these things.

jafadmin, I'm not very impressed by useragentstring.com! Look how they 'analyzed' Palemoon:

rockedge; thank you for the download. I will tell a bit about my latest hobby, sewing machines. I cannnot sew, but I have a technical background, and I became fazinated by the internals of the vintage sewing machines. They are all mechanical, all metal - no plastic or electronics, weighs a ton, and have some components that are so intricate in design and so incredibly well made that I almost drool when I see them! I have some Singer 201 machines, and my latest buy is the german Pfaff 360, I actually picked it up today! Identical in function to the 260 whose internals are pictured below, but it is not a flatbed like the 260, but a so called free-arm machine.

And people accuse me of going off topic.... Very Happy

vintage accordions may be my next obsession.....

Old typewriters had a certain appeal too.

Had a hand singer ..... it could handle leather.

Actually todays was the autohelm...has a half drained mini compass inside and a curious pulley system for the dial.

Sorry for disturbing your holiday with off-topic stuff, mikeb! Very Happy But thanks for caring. I sometimes get carried away, with enthusiasm as my only excuse. I'm a tech nerd, but I never imagined that those machines were so complicated.
I also have 5 cars, I'll save their dissections for later... Laughing

It looks like you already have a UAS manager that I'm not familiar with. The point though is that it's showing a different UAS override for each of the listed domain names.

The trick is to find which one works for the site you need.

Just so you know, I just have one string for everything.

Thanks jefadmin, I'll take a deeper look at useragentstrings.
