peabee lxpupsc 64 kernel got all wacom devices working otb,no xorg tweaking needed.
phil its interesting that you include florence,yes it is a romantic Italian city.. but it was not revised since 2014...xvkbd is alive and small.
Could be woof bug saw in uppubb/upupcc,with HID_SENSOR_CUSTOM_SENSOR, in the "original" generated bionicpup64initmodules.txt i have seen the same module rewrote 2 time, giving boot 60 sec pause error,corrected by boot manager -add module tweaking .Could be hardware specific glitch here...probing the net,hmm,nothing,look like im the first trying linux on that used-as-is-tablet...

it's difficult as i don't have a touch screen device, i'll have a look at lxpup though, it's probably because xorg is using the libinput driver in lxpup where as bionic uses the kbd mouse & synaptics driver.

i went that way with xenial as the libinput (or equivalent at the time) driver was rubbish. it's has improved a lot now and so i should probably use it.

xvkbd for florence ... maybe, any way to make it look nicer?

i've added watchdog & belham2s bugs to the second post.

concerning memory usage, i thought it might have been xorg, so i tried a build using xenials kernel & xenials xorg and it was still in the 500mb range at boot.

i'm going to do a build using an older woof just to rule that out as a cause as there's been a lot of changes since xenial, but i'm wondering though if it's something to do with the compiler all ubuntu libs were built with.

java and qt apps are now themed
quickpet added (note that some packages won't have synced with nluug yet)
bugfixes can now come through quickpet

Frugal install of BionicPup64 7.9.5 on USB 32 GB Sandisk Flash drive. Shutdowns and reboots all OK. All seems good.

For completeness, there are 2 long standing minor issues which do not effect functionality:

1 - CPU Temp always shows as 25 Deg.

2 - On my laptop QBat shows as 123 % when plugged in. When I used the LXPup Kernel earlier with prior beta the battery % was displayed as 100%.

I do not see any memory, CPU, battery or temperature issues with 7.9.5 (though DISTRO_SPECS is still messy)
Is likely to be a hardware/kernel incompatibility issue
To find offensive CPU/MEM processes I usually run something like

Nothing jumps out in 7.9.5
It may also be some hardware specific interrupts issue. Check with

Code: Select all

 grep . -r /sys/firmware/acpi/interrupts

for any big and increasing number.

Hi 666philb & All,

I had been using 7.9.3 with a SaveFile. Replaced with 7.9.5. On bootup was asked if I wanted to use the old SaveFile. Answered yes. Most of the desktop customization's didn't survive the upgrade, but most were easily restored. However, JWM's 2nd panel no longer appeared and nothing I did restored it to its old position --left-center-- or enabled me to view a 2nd panel in any position.

The GUI worked. Launchers could be added. But nothing appeared.

As I don't like desktop launchers, and make use of the second panel for quick access to applications, I had been rather pleased with JWM's second panel. Rather than rebuilding the SaveFile from scratch, I installed FbBox, which functions.

Regarding CPU/MEM in an "all intel" machine, I see lower CPU in Bionic and higher MEM when playing video but this may be due to VLC vs MPV (pic)

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the above which I am just starting to test using a manual install from the mounted ISO
to a 3 partition 16GB USB-3 stick [ fat32/fat32/f2fs ]
An initial finding was that my 4GB swap partition on sdb18 was not being mounted.
That is due to the fact that fdisk is no longer in the Busybox suite and needs to be installed separately.
BK also ran into this issue with Quirky Beaver 8.7.1 and commented about it here:

Installing it via (updated) PPM resolved the issue but it needs to be included in the next version.

sensors information is not populated. The fix if that feature is desired, is to use PPM to install the current bionic version over the top:

bionicpup64 7.9.5 is working well with AMD and Nvidia graphics, not

In PPM you are looking for the Ubuntu ref which is what I highlighted in blue i.e. hardinfo_0.5.1+git20180227-1|Displays system information

Installing that will give you the 0.6-alpha version of hardinfo from 2017.

The problem was that both versions had [ALREADY INSTALLED] against them when I first went into PPM. I have since installed the above version. Sensors now appears in hardinfo.

Changing the kernel resulted in less CPU usage, maybe Phil needs to
offer an alternative kernel for computers with intel graphics?

This version of bionic64 7.9.5 uses woodenshoe-wi Version 10 of rox filer. I am currently having an issue when in detailed view. On initial view the columns are displayed smaller with text wrapped. Enlarging the window and manually expanding columns leaves the text still wrapped. Changes to options doesn't alter this behaviour.
