When running it, it crashes too

i've just tested and gsettings-data-convert also segfaults on xenialpup. not 100% but it looks to do with running a gnome-session desktop ... i'll probably just remove /etc/xdg/autostart/gsettings-data-convert.desktop

I've just updated my frugal install folder, and rebooted to RAM with an old pupsave for testing purposes. I can confirm that the pupsave remained intact, so I can happily go ahead and upgrade Bionicpup on my other laptop (with a fresh pupsave, of course).

It works, but not fully stable...

- goes to desktop (after resetting x)
- touchpad and touchscreen works perfect
- internal wifi doesn't work, but my dongle does.
- System freezes occasionally
- taskbar shows 2 batteries. One of them shows correct status.

It works, but not ready for daily work. Hopefully there will be an alternative (newer) kernel in some future...

I had just set up a new frugal install on my Dell Latitude 3350 Core-i3 5200U laptop just prior to the original bionicpup64.iso being taken down. I have now replaced the content from the original with the new iso. I retained the original save folder from that version 1 install. All tested so far working very well. It was pleasing to see that the latest version of palemoon was included, it has become an excellent browser.

Edit: just thought I'd add that this laptop has a touchscreen, which is functioning correctly.

Hey There,

Downloaded .iso, burnt to CD, booted nicely on my HP 15232 (Win 10, with secureboot and fast boot disabled) intel quad core. Used Xenialpup64 7.5 to make uefi bootable flash drive (I didn't see that option in this BionixPup64, nor in 7.9.7 that I've been running)

Usb boots nicely, connects to wifi (running Firefox 65.0.1 portable) without problems. Added my needed apps and so far everything seems to function normally.

I've got a few projects over the next few days, we'll see how it does.

Download and installed using PPM.
After install reset graphical server.
Temp display now showing in tray.

This may be something to offer using Quickpet

If there is already a temp display built into Bionicpup64 8.0
It is not working for my hardware.

Have to install pmcpucurt-x86_64.pet to get a working temp display in the tray.

Actually the /pet_packages-bionic64/pmcputemp-0.63-x86_64.pet also works fine as the required libsensors.so that pmcpucurt installs is already present.
However, that too needs a desktop entry.

G'day,
new clean manual frugal install on Cruzer_Edge 16GB USB Flash drive, installed the following apps: wbar-2.3.4, gkrellm-2.3.10, bleachbit-2.0, gsmartcontrol-1.1.3, samsung_print_uld-1.0.37, tlp-1.1, EditSFS-2.1.3, RamdiskV2 and pmcpucurt-x86_64.
Erased the save2flash icon, using wbar it's like an eyesore. I prefer Terry H's method.

I copy the save2flash.desktop to /usr/share/applications to be able include it in my top panel.

Simple_network_setup 2.2 (SNS) can misbehave the first time it is used after first boot-up or after using another network manager (network wizard, frisbee, peasywifi). The problem is that it may not correctly identify itself as the current manager, so that :
- starting a new connection may fail.
- Re-connection may not occur after a reboot

Even if neither malfunction occurs, starting SNS and immediately Quitting it will prevent or resolve the issue. That need be done only once after first boot-up or changing from another network manager.

The bug has been fixed in woofCE but too late for BionicPup 8.0. To avoid exposure to the bug, pet package simple_network_setup-2.2.1 is available here:

Also at that link is network-wizard-2.1.1. (Ignore the other packages there.) Both of those packages change the "current manager" only if a connection is configured, started or stopped. That way, merely viewing their main pages does not terminate a connection started by another manager.
