I downloaded and unpacked XaraLx from:
http://downloads.xara.com/opensource/xa ... 62.tar.bz2
This bug appears when starting XaraLx in Puppy Linux 2.10r1. Puppy was installed using frugal install. In previous versions of Puppy it works fine.
After starting the program the main XaraLx window appears, but then suddenly disappears. If I click a 'New drawing' icon immediately after the main window appears, the program sometimes loads successfully and works without any problem.
Had anyone noticed this problem?
Problem starting XaraLx in Puppy 2.10r1
I agree. I tried the same version of XaraLx in Puppy 2.02 and in Puppy 2.0 and fortunately works without any problem.Lobster wrote:Yes - me too
I think this is a 2.10 problem.
I have also tried downloading stable (which have always worked from 1.09 to 2.03) and unstable gzips from the Xara Xtreme website.
Same problem.
I hope this will be fixed in Puppy 2.11.
XaraLx is the most important program that I can use thanks to Barry and Puppy.
Xara uses wxWidgets, which reacts very critical to version-differences of Gtk.
Solution:
Install this dotpup:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Graphics/Xara ... y-2.10.pup (1.7 MB)
Then run xaralx-gtk from the dotpups-menu.
It includes some Gtk-libraries I compiled before we had Puppy 2.10.
They are installed in an own subfolder to avoid conflicts with the Gtk from Puppy 2.10.
They can be accessed only by a special startscript like the provided xaralx-gtk.
If my startscript cannot find /usr/local/bin/xaralx, it creates a new one, and lets you edit in leafpad the path, where you installed XaraLX.
