Hangs after boot splash: "invalid compressed format&quo

#1 Post by ghostcrab »

Hi,

cool distro!
Works fine except on my old Acer Extensa 500T (Pentium 200 MMX).
The boot process hangs with the message "invalid compressed format" right after the splash screen.

Is that oldie too old?

One of two possible problems. Most likely, it's the cdrom, which could be having trouble reading home burned cd disks. I have run into this before.

The other possible issue is how much ram is in the system. Laptops sometimes borrow ram for video, effectively reducing the available ram to boot Puppy. If you have 64 mb ram, you may only have less than 60 mb available, which may not be quite enough.
I love it when a plan comes together
