Due to the conflict with the US and the refusal of a number of US companies to work together, the Chinese company Huawei is developing its own operating system for smartphones and laptops. This is reported by CNBC .

At the same time, the product is planned to be published in the autumn of 2019. The operating system is developed for the Chinese market, in the beginning or in the middle of 2020 it can be released for the international market. In this case, the launch of the project is planned in the event that Huawei is forever banned from working with Android from Google and Windows from Microsoft.

It is known that the tentative name of the OS is Hongmeng. It is based on Linux, and the name goes back to Chinese mythology.

Earlier, US authorities filed formal charges against the Chinese IT-companies Technologies' Co Huawei's . The United States believes that the company and its management have resorted to banking and other types of fraud.

Microsoft store refuses to sell Huawei products.

Funny, the rest of the world sees this as a political interference with business.... I'll buy my new Huawei phone as soon as I can afford it. F---k Trump!

Wonder what that operating system will be able to do in the background.
Spy on what you do?
Send info to the China government?

It is a security issue, if you care about that stuff.

"The core issue with Huawei has been concerns about its coziness with the Chinese government and fears that its equipment could be used to spy on other countries and companies."

Concerns...coziness...fears....not a single fact.

My core issue with Cisco is its coziness with the US government and that its equipment is used to spy on other countries and companies. With a Huawei G5 network this will come to an end and the gentlemen at NSA will be left in the dark. This is what the US fears.

I'm also more worried about big brother US with their spying domes in various countries picking up all internet traffic and filtering it.

I'd buy a Huawei in protest if I was about to buy a new phone - anyway, I believe they are well-designed phones. Google has no right to limit technology is this way - behaving like some kind of patent-holding Monsanto - just damaging another companies business by underhand strategy. Disgusting really. US just can't handle the competition and companies like Google and Apple and Microsoft just using the situation to forward their monopolies.

Do you think the US government tells everything they know about security issues?
Do you think every government does?
NOT!

The US government investigation of Huawei resulted in no reported smoking gun.
No reported one.
However, part of that investigation report is not for release to everyone.
Restricted access to complete report.

OK, lets tell the Chinese government everything we know about their spying. Rolling Eyes
NOT!

I bought 2 Huawei 'PSmart 2019' phones. Well worth the money!

If Huawei's operating system is really good probably all Chinese brand phone manufacturers will switch to it; Lenovo, Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, Oppo, Vivo etc

Maybe it is further work on Ubuntu Touch.

I'm sure the US govt tell very little about the spying they do either!... As if China is any worse than the US in that regard!!

Of course, we tend to forget (?) that US likes to demand other countries not to have nuclear weapons (unless sanctioned by US) yet seems to think it is fine that it should. So these other nations are rogues and the US is self-appointed to do what it likes. Of course I don't like nuclear proliferation either, but it all started 'somewhere'.

The latest from mr. Trump is that there could be positive signals regarding the China-US trade agreement, and he was also willing to not exlude Huawei as part of those deals. Whatever you would think about security, Huawei is in many ways the leading company in their sector, and for that reason alone they should be listened to, not excluded.
Trump is acting as a dictator. Who are interested in making any kind of agreement with USA, after prolonged negotiations between parliaments, if that idiot just can say that all deals are off? There are several obstacles that have to be passed to make such international deals, and then one man can tweet his crazy ideas, and everybody jump? A funny sort of 'democracy'.

What kind of communication do you think goes on between Facebook, Google, Amazon and other giant operators, and the US authorities? Hah!

Here are my 2cents.

Trump is squeezing Huawei (and other Chinese companies) to play his rules. You want US technology, then build them in the US. Open a factory in US, and employ US citizens. Then all will be good. The same way Japanese car makers were made to open/expand US-based factories and employ (more) US citizens. This is good for the US, and (perhaps) bad for the rest of the world - but he's the president of US. He's not trying to make the __world__ better, he's trying to make __US__ better. That was his election promise.

You may not like it, but if you're not a US citizen he doesn't really give a s**t about you.

Disclaimer: I'm not a US citizen so Trump won't give a s**t about me either.

Trump doesn't give a s**t about global warming or pollution generally either unless the grass on his golf courses starts dying or gets plastic crap on it. Some wee island territories are desperate with threat of sea-level rise and weather going crazy more generally. My house is only one or two metres above sea level so flooding already a personal issue. Trump happy enough to accelerate coal burning as long as brings a lot more bucks. What does he care... probably only got ten or so years life left in him.
