OpenSSL News

#1 Post by 8Geee »

A check-in at Wikipedia ffinds the following Support News;

version 1.0.2 will go Out Of Support Dec.31, 2019 (current version 1.0.2t)
this version is in newer Slackware products, and starting with 1.0.2q needs a version of glibc greater than 2.15 found in Slacko5.7

version 1.1.0 has gone Out Of Support effective Set. 11, 2019 (This means tuuxxx's BETA release of Slaxxx is already OOS)

The result is that only OpenSSL 1.1.1 remains supported (until 2023). As far as I can tell, by an update of Tuuxxx's Alpha Slaxxx, glibc needs to be at least 2.25. ( I got 3 errors concerning libc.so.6 stating NO glibc versions 2.16, 2.17, and 2.25 were found when updating 1.1.1b --> d.)

Developers please take note of this rather important chain-of-libs. I am unsure if all three glibc versions need be present, or if the latest (glibc 2.29) will suffice.
