Subject description: How to make bluetooth mouse work?

I have boionicpup64 8.0 installed with LICK installer on my ASUS Win 10 laptop's C:\ drive. My bluetooth mouse works in Windows but so far not in Puppy. I don't have an external bluetooth dongle, just wanting to use what is installed on my laptop.

I've hardly ever used any bluetooth device before on phone or computer, and it took me a while to get it working even in Windows. So any help you might give me needs to be of a very basic nature. All I've done so far is to set the mouse to send the pairing signal and wait for something to happen, which so far hasn't.

Thanks

Install bluez bluez-tools from ppm. Also blueman is a good app if available.

after turning mouse on in pairing mode (blue white alternating light usually) in terminal type
Code:
rfkill unblock all
bluethoothctl scan on

if no devices are discovered or bluetoothctl complains no controller (bluetooth device found) then could be you don't have the firmware for your bluetooth hardware:
then identify the mac address of the mouse (looks like A0:18:28:EC:FA:71)
select the mac address with the cursor and press 'Alt+Ctrl+c' or 'Ctrl+c' or right click and copy (depends on the terminal in use)
then in term type (using right-click paste or 'Ctrl+v' or 'Alt+Ctrl+v')
Code:
scan off
pair A0:18:28:EC:FA:71
trust A0:18:28:EC:FA:71
connect A0:18:28:EC:FA:71

if it doesn't connect i found that trying to connect to another device like a phone, and then simultaneously trying to connect to the mouse (other device) works!

All of this can also be found in my Wifi-TrayNet app.

Thanks, stemsee.

I installed bluez-tools, put the mouse in pairing mode and ran the two commands. Nothing happened (that I could tell) except the next line prompt changed from root# to [bluetooth]#.

How might I find the mac address of the mouse?

running the command
Code:
bluetoothctl
scan on
scan off
should find your blue tooth devices and show the mac address followed by the 'name'.
