If I try to start Samba with the Xlock screenlocker on, it just never starts. No troll.

I made a udev rule to start smbd whenever I plug in a particular USB drive. It works perfectly as long as the screen is up and not blanked out by Xlock. But if the screen is locked, smbd won't work right.

The logfile logs the same output and says it has a socket.

What am I missing, Gurus? Inquiring mimes gots to know Confused

Ok, everyone relax .. Crisis averted. I figured it out. Razz

Xlock globally locks console I/O for the entire machine unless instructed otherwise. That means everything!
You need to tell it to lock only the console display, like so:
Code:
xlock -mode matrix -display :0

So I added that line in /etc/acpi/actions/suspend.sh inside the "$DISABLE_SUSPEND" case statement, right before the exit command.

That way if the DISABLE_SUSPEND variable is set to 'yes' in /etc/acpi/acpi.conf, the screen blanks and xlock is enabled, instead of suspending the laptop.
