How to boot Puppy in Asus VivoBook? (Solved)

Good afternoon to you all,

Today I got my brand new Asus VivoBook with AMD ryzen3 256 + 1TB.
The videocard is a AMD Radeon Vega 3 Mobile Graphics.

I tried Lick to make puppy work because it's not possible to get this laptop boot from USB.

I used bionicpup 64 first

So, I installed Lick and Bionic64 8.0 uefi. I got the blue screen at the first startup and I made the correct steps. For a moment I thought I had succes because it looked like the pup was starting up as normal. But almost at the end I got this message:

login[5521]: root login on 'tty1'
'/etc/X11/xorg.conf.udev' -> '/etc/X11/xorg.conf'

Xorg Wizard automatic has just run.
If you are reading this, then you are at the console without X running.
The usual thing now is to type 'xwin' to start X...

Typing xwin + enter gives not a single response.

Then I tried Xenial 64 and Slacko64. Xenial crashed at the startup and Slacko gave the same error as Bionic but it did suggest to run the xorgwizard again.
I got completely confused with alle the settings etc. in the xorgwizard.

Can somebody help me to make it run?

I think your problem may be that this is just to new a hardware.
Support for hardware is mainly in the Linux kernel along with support files in the Puppy OS.

If Lick gives you a boot menu option to boot to no X.
Boot using it.

At the prompt enter xorgwizard.
Select the Vesa driver. (may have to type it into the selection slot)
Set a resolution that you know works.
When Xorgwizard is done.

Back at prompt you may have to enter xwin to start x server.

If no help.

There is a very new version of Puppy Linux being developed.
Latest stuff in Puppy and using a much newer kernel.
Understand, it will have some miner bugs, but overall it should work OK.
It is now released for finding bugs and fixing them.

Fossapup64 - alpha

Give it a try and see if it may boot better.

Thank you bigpup.

I tried Fossapup. During boot I read no videomode found booting in blind mode.

But it boots perfect, changed to 1280 x 720 looks good.
Internet works
Sound works

Small problem, no windows option in the grub menu, how can I change Lick when I want to use another pup?

There is no language pack yet?

For the rest Fossapup looks promissing !!! Thank you very much
