Installing Pegasus USB ethernet adapter drivers?

#1 Post by JMOLD »

Trying to install Microsoft MN 110 USB ethernet adapter. I've seen elsewhere that the deviceuses a Pegasus chipset, and I've found a couple references to the Pegasus drivers here in the forum. a bit vague however on where i can find the drivers and what form they're in? (Module, etc.) Plan to use on a Toshiba Tecra laptop under Puppy2.0.2. will download using Windows 98, so they will be in /mnt/hda1/ when I boot Puppy. Can somebody explain exactly how I install the drivers and load them?

Thanks much!

I'm currently using the Pegasus driver on Puppy 1.09CE. I did try it in Puppy 2 but it did not work. I was told that the cause may be that Puppy 2 uses a newer kernel than Puppy one.

So - unless the Pegasus driver has been fixed to work with the newer Linux kernel - or someone else knows better - I'd recommend using 1.09CE.

If you want to give this a try I think I can guide you through how to load and use the Pegasus driver.

Try the 2.12beta it should have MANY more drivers.

Get it here.

ftp://ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/puppylinux/

Note that this is a beta but it will let you know if 2.12 final will support your hardware
