2.11 Network issues with bridged subnet (Solved - bad NIC)

#1 Post by Igo AtM »

Interesting issue with puppy 2.11 and subnet configuration. I am trying to use puppy as part of an embedded system that runs with others in a number of subnets. Puppy its self runs super smooth and when running the network wizard directly on the local network DHCP returns a valid ip and route to the Internet via the local router. however if I try the same config on a subnet spur or even manual config with known working settings (running XP and Ubuntu machines on the spur) it cannot obtain a valid net path
ping [my router ip] is dead as is
ping [my bridging computer ip]
puppy will happily bark at is self mind
ping [127.0.0.1]
the bridging machine is running Ubuntu dapper (kernal 2.6.15 I think) with a local DNS resolver/forwarder but no ping no DNS me thinks. I have run this bridge for a very long time and it has always offered transparent transfer to all requests may hap it just dose not like being barked at ??
any help appreciated
