How to put Opera 9.02 icon on Puppy 2.12 desktop?

#1 Post by Artie »

I just installed 9.02 from the dotpup in the forum. Everything put itself in /usr/local and I have to go there every time to open. Tried dragging that toothed wheel to the desktop but then it doesn't work. Any help appreciated.

If you used this one:
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Internet/opera-9.02.pup

then you can drag /usr/local/bin/opera on your desktop.

Works for me in 2.11 (Muppy), for you too?

pupget

For the reader, another way to install opera is via pupget (see the package manager), you may choose the one with qt in it.

Downloading it from Barry's download site and then using pupget might be easier to some.

This technique automatically adds Opera to the Internet menu. Adding the desktop shortcut will be as discussed above.
