Broadcom B44 Network Driver not starting
Hey Folks;
I have noticed several other posts concerning broadcom network cards not initializing properly or that the network cable is unpluged.
I too am having the same problems, the bm44 module is loaded " I use "lsmod" to see which modules are loaded. I have unloaded and loaded the module several times with "insmod & rmmod" I have also removed the bm44 module and tried to load it with the netcard utility, it to will load the bm44 module and say that it loaded correctly but during the eth0 test the utility states that the network cable is unpluged.
I have an Asus A7v333-X with a built in broadcom 4400 series card.
I can state with 100% certainty that it is not a network card or network cable problem. I use this same machine with WinXP and Fedora Core 4, using removable harddrives and all works well. As a side note Knoppix detects the card and works.
Side note #2 I tried Damnsmall Linux and it did the same thing as puppy!!!!
Other than the network card problem Puppy looks to be just the ticket for some of my older machines. Nice Job!!!
