Wireless Usb RT73 - I just dont get it

#1 Post by RazzBear »

Using Puppy 2.12 Hd install
Plug in Rt73 based Usb Wireless dongle
type in "ifconfig rausb0 up"
Blinky fires up and shows me that i transmitting and receiving packets
but im having trouble connecting to wireless adsl router
iwconfig tells me that the interface is active
Router has WPA PSK key.
I dont know how to configure WPA in Puppy even after reading the
other posts.
Some of the other posts say that the native Linux driver has built in WPA
and i have downloaded the driver from RALINK site but i dont know what to do with it
I can get it working under Windows, but i am trying to make a clean break from windows into Puppy and Linux and would like the configuration
explained in very simple terms.
Can anybody explain it vey simply for me Thank You.

Puppy 2.12's network wizard now accommodates wifi setup including WEP encryption settings. But WPA encryption is a different story.
Some wifi drivers support WPA with the "helper" application wpa_supplicant.
Some wifi drivers do not support WPA at all.
And one wifi driver, ralink, supports WPA natively, via the iwpriv utility. The wizard will not help with this, so you will have to have to use the manual instructions here http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Wifi/drivers- ... README.txt
