Xorgwizard Bug? Video Bug? Nvidia 6600GT

#1 Post by cam34 »

Hey Loving the puppy linux!
I just recently downloaded 2.12zdrv and Im having issues on boot up with X

When it displays the wizard to choose XVESA or XORG i select either one an the screen starts flickering (eg. like changing res modes) and then every 7-8 secs a cursor will flash on the screen for about 2 secs then it flickers again. This goes on forever (minutes)
from there I have to hit Ctrl-C and get dumped to c/l

The /etc/X11/xorg.conf file is not created properly Horz and Vert and Screen info are missing.

I checked the errors by cat /root/xerr.log and it complained about synch ranges but it then also created /root/xorg.conf.new which i then overwrote the old one with mv /root/xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf

Then i typed xwin jvm or Xorg (work the same) and it starts but the taskbar(?) down the bottom isn't there and when i minimize something i can't get it back.

Ill try post the logs
It appears im missing lots of mods too (from /tmp) File:

File: missingmods8373.
File: missingmods8441
File: missingmods8671
File: missingmods8969
File: missingmods9019
File: missingmods9198
File: missingmods9311
File: missingmods9822

AND MORE!

Let me know what else you need to know.
Any ideas? Wierd bug i think?

Summary: xorgwizard is stalling during range probe??? and jvm isn't loading properly.

Hardware: AMD Athlon 2500+
Video: Nvidia 128mb 6600GT AGP Card
MOBO: GA-700N Pro2 i think (gigabyte)
Monitor: LCD Screen

please try it with a new pup_save.sfs or by booting from CD with the option
puppy pfix=ram

An upgrade from 2.01 to 2.12 might be critical, as almost everything changed.
Kernel, xorg, Gtk.

So it would be interesting to see, if a "pure" Puppy 2.12 works correct.

This is happening on a Live CD - PURE 2.12! No Upgrade or anything.

I think its missing libaries - maybe fetch on demand isn't working right????

PS I checked the md5sum of the image i downloaded and its OK

Right so I changed my monitor believeing that the probing off refresh rates was the issue which it was. So JVM is starting fine.

But now another problem Im trying to get enlightenment to run so I installed the two dotpups and when i type xwin enlightenment - JVM starts!
If i type xwin startenlightenment it crashes
So I installed the OPENGL-7.0 but its says im missing

File /usr/X11R7/lib/xorg/modules/extensions/libglx.so.1.0.8762 has these missing library files:
libGLcore.so.1 libnvidia-tls.so.1
This dependent package is missing: "xorg_VIDEO_DRVRS"

Any ideas??

Thanks in advance
