Can I show an icon for a USB flash device on the desktop? If so, how?
Thanks for any help.

An easy way (if you already have the USB mounted, or auto-mounting on start-up) would be to simply drag the icon from Rox-filer over to the desktop, then right click it and "set icon".

I don't know if that's what your looking for, or something else. Perhaps I misunderstood. Hope that's of some help...

(yes, I misunderstood, sorry - duh)

Your best bet is to use MUT It is a great application for mounting drives and provides an easy way to access them from the desktop. If you are using Puppy 1.0.4 it is already included.

Thanks, folks. I've tried to drag the icon from Rox, but nothing happens - it won't drag!
I can use MUT, but it would be nice to have a "shortcut" icon on the desktop, similar to the unmentionable MSWindows.
Any suggestions?

You should be able to drag the icon onto the desktop....

Can you drag other icons there?

I have a shortcut on my desktop representing /dev/hda4. I just dragged it there straight from the rox window.

Strange, dude.

I don't quite understand your query.

Do you want a shortcut on the desktop to allow you to mount the flash drive or to view it once it is mounted or to do both of the above in one go.
