I compiled the 2007-01-02 svn version of ffmpeg and configured like this:

./configure --prefix=/usr --libdir=/usr/lib --mandir=/usr/man --disable-debug --enable-mp3lame --enable-a52 --enable-gpl --enable-shared --enable-pp --enable-libogg --disable-decoder=alac --disable-decoder=tta --disable-decoder=wv --disable-encoder=flac --disable-decoder=flac --disable-audio-beos --enable-small --enable-pthreads

It should do everything the current puppy version of ffmpeg does as well as encoding/decoding ogg and wma audio formats and it is roughly the same size as the current puppy version. I split it up into two packages because of the 1 MB limit of this board.

Here's the dev files that are only necessary if you need to compile something with support for this version of ffmpeg.

Thanks much, this makes one less package for me to recompile.

Thanks for mention this option.

I tried it in Puppy 3.01 without any additional package and it works perfectly.

Examples:

Code:
ffmpeg -i inputfile.flv outputfile.mpg
ffmpeg -i inputfile.flv outputfile.avi

Hi plinej
I see you managed to compile ffmpeg, I currently need a version that works with extra's included, I spent over 30hrs trying to compile this and I keep getting a lot of errors, I need it for VLC. The repetitive error I get is warning: 'AVFrac' is deprecated maybe about 100 times with numerous parts. I was wondering if you could give it a shot again with this sort configure line, If you don't want to thats ok, but it would be really nice if you did Wink
thanks for everything
ttuuxxx

./configure --prefix=/usr --enable-static --libdir=/usr/lib --mandir=/usr/man --disable-debug --enable-mp3lame --enable-a52 --enable-gpl --enable-shared --enable-pp --enable-libogg --disable-decoder=alac --disable-decoder=tta --disable-decoder=wv --enable-encoder=flac --enable-decoder=flac --disable-audio-beos --enable-small --enable-pthreads --enable-vorbis --enable-faad --enable-faac --enable-x264 --enable-dts --enable-xvid --enable-libgsm --enable-pp

ttuuxxx, I wanted to mention this on another thread where your 'trials' with ffmpeg were being discussed, but it didn't seem like the appropriate place for it...

The crux of the problem is very simple: If you want to compile anything besides the simplest of sources, you must do it from a system which is installed to hard disk. Compiling while running live from a CD will rarely work for any sources which use autoconf, scons, jam or other such system. I know you worry about compiling on a 'clean' system -you just need to be more vigilant about first uninstalling programs which cause unwanted dependencies.

Hope this helps you in future to save some of that valuable time...

Ya I could probably install a version, then when I'm finished delete the pupsave and install the sfs and reboot
I must of compile over 400 packages in the past 12 months out of that only4 or so wouldn't compile properly. But your right I need to install
thanks for your help
