How do I uninstall icewm dotpup?

#1 Post by trentster222 »

How do you uninstall icewm. I can get back to the normal window manager, and I have decided not to use icewm. How do I remove it from the HD?
I like puppy, yes I do! I like puppy and you should too!

Just run the IceWM dotPup again. It has an option to uninstall.

To get back to the default wm, boot from X to the prompt, maybe the instructions are on the screen.

# startx fvwm95

or

# xwin fvwm95

------------------------

I think I'd remove it this way:

Delete this directory
  • /root/.icewm
Delete these files:
  • /root/my-applications/bin/icewm
    /root/my-applications/bin/icewm-session2
    /root/my-applications/bin/icewmbg
    /root/my-applications/bin/icewmclockcmd
    /root/my-applications/bin/icewmpoweroff
    /root/my-applications/bin/icewmreboot
    /root/my-documents/bin/doc/icewm.html

Of course you could do it like Rasa says and run it again and take the uninstall option. I forgot about that. :)

Actually I started writing a response that looked 95% like yours (mine had the commands in [ code ] sections 8) .

Then I went to see the contents of the dotPup to confirm the list of filesand once I was there I checked the dotpup.sh script. That's how I remembered that there was an uninstall button.

I will suggest GuestToo to add that to his DotPup example. I don't even know if that part is on the Well behaved DotPups thread.
