#1 Post by mwestlund »

Is there a PowerPoint/Impress apps for Puppy? I need to create slides but I have less than 60meg remaining so I can not unzip OpenOffice to extract Impress. Any suggestions are appreciated. -Mark

Apres program

slapshots suggestion is excellent
I used the program on this page
(near the bottom)
http://tmxxine.com/Wikka/wikka.php?wakka=PuppyLove

You might also consider creating images in Xara, Inklite, Gimp, Mtpaint
and then putting them in a directory and running the "Puppybackground desktop image" (Menu Setup) which has a slide option as does GTKsee . . . under graphics . . .

Or you might like my Apres program

Thanks for the suggestions. I usually do not have Internet access when I create PowerPoint shows and need PowerPoint like software and not a graphics package. I'll have to rethink how I use Puppy to have a OpenOffice install. A dual boot application environment! -Mark

Oh, you asked for an Impress-like applicaiton.

If you need impress, you can easily install it in Puppy.

Search the forum. There are many different ways on how to do it.

If you don't care about having the latest version you can get it using Pupget. That is an old version but quite stable and puppyfied (very small comparativelly)

Other options include sfs files created by forum members.

How much space do you have?

this page of linux equivalents:

http://www.linuxrsp.ru/win-lin-soft/table-eng.html#5

mentions magicpoint as a linux alternative for creating presentations. haven't used it myself, but it looks more "do-able" than a standalone Impress, and latest snapshot appears to be from 2007.
