Can I do a complete OS reinstall to the latest version in about 20 minutes.

Upgraded to 2.13 today on my laptop. Very Happy And actually I found the 2.13 installer to be much faster than 2.12 particularly with X. Didn't have to let it sit there and let the screen flicker to find the right settings...I just picked my resolution, hit OK, and boom!

It takes me about a minute to upgrade to the latest Puppy version, I just boot the new CD. (I run from a live CD, with a save file on the hard drive. Wink )

Nope not me, I just install it to the HD. I like having my CD drive free (only have 1 CD drive anyways), in case I'm listening to music or something.

Some more RAM and your CD will be freed up by Puppy. In my tests, 160 MB RAM should do it.

A hard drive is very convenient, but that convenience comes at a hidden high price, as anyone knows who has lost everything that wasn't backed up when his hard drive crashed. Running from RAM, with an occasional save to the DVD or flash drive, is much more conducive to peace of mind.

For the price of a hard drive, you can increase your RAM. RAM is far more reliable than any hard drive, and as far as I can tell uses less power. Also, you can buy a DVD burner for a lot less than the smallest hard drive costs.

The preceeding applies mostly to desktops. Laptops just don't seem to take to multisession like desktops do. I don't know why.
