Remastering Problems

#1 Post by ppurvis »

I am really a newbie with Puppy, but love it nevertheless! I am using v213 and want to remaster my existing cd. (It is getting a bit tight on the CD)

Whatever remastering option that I choose simply brings me up an XDIALOG starting with something like this:
Xdialog v2.3.1 by Thierry Godefroy <xdialog@free.fr> (v1.0 was
written by Alfred at Cyberone Internet <alfred@cyberone.com.au>).
Xdialog home page available at: http://xdialog.dyns.net/

Usage: Xdialog [<common options>] [<transient options>] <box option> ...

There are no other options. What am I doing wrong?

hi ppurvis welcome,

It sounds like you have a messed up Xdialog program.

Xdialog is a program that lets scripts display windows and dialogs.

Have you installed any dotpup packages?

Try opening a terminal and running

Code: Select all

pupremaster.sh >remaster-errors.txt 2>&1
(note that you can just copy this line by highlighting it in the browser window, then pressing the middle mouse button on the terminal cursor)

This should run my remaster-script. When you get that Xdialog info window just close it.

Then run

Code: Select all

gzip remaster-errors.txt
Now you should have a file named "remaster-errors.txt.gz" in your home directory.
Post it here and I'll try and see what your problem is.

I think your problem is something I've already solved before -- Puppy might not have the latest version of my script...

Any chance you're using computer with only ntfs partitions?

Try going to the remaster script thread and look for the latest version of the script (should be in the last page.

If it still doesn't work, try running the command "probepart" and see what it gives.

ppurvis, are you running from a multisession CD? If so, all you need to do to start a new one is put a blank CD in the drive and hit the "save" icon on the desktop. Puppy and all your installed programs, settings and saved work should be transferred to the new CD.

I had the same problem like ppurvis. There is also another very easy solution...Just plug in a USB flash disk and ...voila the script works!!! :D
