How can I compile applications for puppy?

In other Linux distributions, compiling the source code for many of my favorite programs is easy enough, but when using Puppy, I cannot compile applications that do not already have a dotpup. I have heard that Puppy developers use Vector Linux to compile programs for Puppy. Is there a tutorial that shows how this can be done?

Puppy at this point does not contain the necassary tools to compile-make/or configure programs, due to it's small size...


I for one am really looking forward to 1.0.5alpha1 !
