puppy barebones 1.0.4 WARNING: usr_cram.fs too small

#1 Post by gelias »

Hi there.

I downloaded puppy barebones 1.0.4 and when it boots, it gives a WARNING message because the usr_cram.fs is smaller than the file it expects to find.
So every time i have to press ENTER to continue the booting process.

after that the Puppy works well.

I used the Pup get program to install leafpad and mpaint, but the programs don't work. They give this message:

bash-3.00# leafpad
Error reading Pango modules file

(leafpad:3583): Pango-WARNING **: No builtin or dynamically loaded modules
were found. Pango will not work correctly. This probably means
there was an error in the creation of:
'/etc/pango/pango.modules'
You may be able to recreate this file by running pango-querymodules.

(leafpad:3583): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: g_object_ref: assertion `G_IS_OBJECT (object)' failed

(leafpad:3583): Pango-CRITICAL **: _pango_engine_shape_shape: assertion `PANGO_IS_FONT (font)' failed

Pango-ERROR **: file shape.c: line 75 (pango_shape): assertion failed: (glyphs->num_glyphs > 0)
aborting...
Aborted

If I afind something else I'll tell you.

greetings.

gelias

sounds like a bad burn

use md5sum to check download
then burn at lower speed if OK
try on another machine

gelias,
you need to read the "How Puppy works" page, see the search order for finding usr_cram.fs at bootup. It could be a bad burn, or it could be Puppy is finding an old usr_cram.fs file.
