ç accent isn't working after 2.12 update (resolved)

Hi,

I've updated my system from 2.12 to 2.13

I'm using Xorg.

At xkbconfigmanager I've this configuration (I had not touch on that since it was working with 2.12):

Keyboard Model: pc101 Generic 101-key PC
Layout: US
Variant: intl us: International (with dead keys)

The "ç" is not working.

It should be displayed pressing "'" + "c".

In fact the result is a "c" with "'" (I cannot reproduce this symbol on this keyboard).

Obs. I'm writing this text from another computer.

I really appreciate any help!

Thanks in advance!

you can choose the keyboard map using Dougals keyboard wizard ... Start Menu, Setup, Wizards, Mouse/Keyboard Wizard, Advanced Xorg Configuration

for the us keymap with the intl variant, you hold the AltGr key down and press the , key to get ç or Ç

the alt-intl keymap is supposed to be like the old us-intl keymap ... with the alt-us variant, you hold the AltGr key and press and release the , key then press c to get ç or Ç

i do not think the us map has a variant with a dead-cedilla comma key ... the older xkb maps did, but the maps were changed by Xorg

you can use xmodmap to make the comma key a dead-cedilla ... you can type this in a console:

xmodmap -e 'keycode 59 = dead_cedilla less comma less comma less'

you can put that line in /root/.xinitrc, before exec $CURRENTWM, and it will set the dead-cedilla key everytime Puppy boots

or you can put this line in /root/.Xmodmap:

keycode 59 = dead_cedilla less comma less comma less

or you can edit the us map file in /etc/X11/xkb/symbols/pc/

I have no AltGr key on my Dell D610 notebook. So¸ I have choosen to put following line at /root/.xinitrc:

xmodmap -e 'keycode 59 = dead_cedilla less comma less comma less'

... and it worked!

Now I have the key ç pressing comma plus "c".

Thank you very much for your help!

One thing that I love in puppy is its community. I have tried other Linux systems¸ but puppy is the best one in terms of helping!

Best Regards¸

For your information : I am now using Precise 5.2.60 and keyboard types frenchy without any problem. That is strange as macpup 529 is based on precise.
Already tested : puppy pfkeys=fr at booting
Set keyboard at france at first boot and x restarted
Nothing, rien de rien.

... je ne regrette rien... (song/chanson) :D

Pelo,

which is creating problems : precise 5.2.60 or macpup 5.29 ?

In any case, if it's any consolation, we French-Canadians need to config the keyboard twice for French. Once with
configuration -> assistant souris/clavier -> choix du type de clavier par pays -> cf
Then, with
