In Win98 My Documents I made a new folder and named it mypuppy then I went to the download site for puppy-barebones-1.0.4.There I found md5sum.exe,then I "right click and save"that to mypuppy folder. Then I did the same for puppy-barebones-1.0.4.iso.txt, then I did the same for puppy-barebones-1.0.4.iso .About 4 hours later the download was finished. Then I opened mypuppy folder,all three are there.Now I need to open a MSDOS box in that folder ,this is where I get stuck.

Open the dos window

Try it by using these commands
  • * cd "c:\my documents\mypuppy" or cd c:\mydocu~1\mypuppy

    * type nameofbarebones.iso.md5

    * md5sum nameofbarebones.iso
Compare the two sums

Got Windows 98? Try PupWin98.zip at http://www.freeveda.org/linux/puppy/ which is too easy to explain. No need for CD. No partition danger. No dual boot confusion. Based on Puppy Linux at http://www.PuppyLinux.com.

Pence - be brave!

to get a dos box
(sorry I have not been in Windows for a while - hope this is right)
click on start
select run
and type in com
and press enter

:)

Come over to Linux - smarter people are here and it rubs off . . .
:)
