Do we need a JWM forum?

#1 Post by disciple »

Joesbox has abandoned bsd, and killed BSDGeek, where there was a forum devoted largely to JWM. As far as I know, there is now no forum for JWM.
I suspect we (the Puppy community) are the biggest users of JWM, and I suggest there should be a JWM forum if we want to see JWM improve and remain the best WM
Joewing (who makes JWM) has a good record of incorporating feature requests from forum users.

Would it be a good idea to have a forum area (I don't know what you call them - a sub-forum maybe?) here for JWM? It may also mean that more Puppy users end up inputting to JWM.

BTW for you diehard icewm users, the next JWM will have gradient support and other things to help you make it look pretty...

JWM has made a lot of progress. It might be possible to host a forum for them (dependent on volume). Contact (pm - private message) John Murga and Flash directly.

Did you see this?

I saw on the jwm mailing list that buttons that change appearance when pressed were also a possibility. There doesn't seem to be much traffic on there.

I wonder how far it is sensible to go on implementing features into a light weight window manager? The eternal question of how heavy is too heavy?

The only other JWM forum I know of is the SourceForge one which I've been the only one to use.... I checked on on Freenode and found out that joewing hasn't been there for 25 weeks and joesboxd3b hasn't been there for 2 weeks. His domain has some problems besides being suspended. Hopefully JWM doesn't become vaporware.... :(

OK that was rather odd. :o Minutes after posting that last message joewing.net came back online.... Heh. Oh well, JWM still needs a forum, though.
