plug ins for Firefox & live cd 2.13..(Opera too..)

Is it ok to use the plugins? Quite sure that fox (1.5 or 2..forget ) started crashing right after I loaded a flash player (think) plugin.
Understand that fox can be hit & miss with pup ver 2.13. Even tried to fix it with the correct ver Swiftfox. Probably ended up messing it all up.
Lookin for a way to fix. thx,

After installing Flashplayer 9 on v. 2.12 when I try to navigate to any link in Firefox or SeaMonkey the browser immediately crashes on my system to. Does anyone
out there have a fix suggestion? I am a complete noob to linux.
