Subject description: Built-in microphone deosn't work

Have tried using Puppy 2.13 [as well as Ubuntu 6.10 and latest Knoppix], and cannot get any response from the built-in microphone.

This has an Intel chipset, and the HDA driver gives sound from the speakers.
The best I get from the microphone is a little rumbling noise when I try the Alsa capture test in the Ubuntu distro. I haven't been able to get any response in Puppy for the Skype application.

Any suggestions are welcome.

TIA

Paul
