Hi Everybody,
Just installed Puppy and the first time I've played with Linux.
I've tried using the help files to get my sound going but with no luck. I was hoping that someone could help.
When I do a Query-PCI hardware probe the sound comes back as a:
8086:24d5 (4,1) 11 [ Intel - Analog Devies SoundMax ] AUDIO i810_audio
and if I look under the Modules section of hardware probe to comes back with:
AUDIO i810_audio: Intel Analog Devices SoundMax (8086:24d5) detected
when I try to load the i810_audio driver it returns:
# modprobe i810_audio
Note: /etc/modules.conf is more recent than /lib/modules/2.4.29/modules.dep
/lib/modules/2.4.29/sound/oss/i810_audio.o.gz: init_module: No such device
Hint: insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters.
You may find more information in syslog or the output from dmesg
/lib/modules/2.4.29/sound/oss/i810_audio.o.gz: insmod /lib/modules/2.4.29/sound/oss/i810_audio.o.gz failed
/lib/modules/2.4.29/sound/oss/i810_audio.o.gz: insmod i810_audio failed
Could anyone explain how to get the audio working??
Many thanks

The i810_audio works fine on my nForce board. If I remember correctly, the SoundMax is not i810_audio, but AD1980, which is not in Puppy. There was a thread in the other forum I frequent on this.
Alsa supports it with a fix, but this audio is new and the last that I looked, the drivers were still being worked on for alsa support.

I love it when a plan comes together
