I recently installed Puppy Linux 2.15CE on an old Dell (XPS D333). I'm setting up an old computer for a parent to use for email so it was important to find a disto that was easy to use as possible which is why I chose Puppy. I was using a Netgear WG11T for internet access. This works great with the live cd. which is the reason I thought I would perform a proper install. After installation I have two problems:
1. The first is X doesn't start automatically. I have to use startx from command line to get into the windows managers. How can I automate this so it goes straight into the windows manager.
2. Although the wireless card works with the live cd when I install I can't get the card to be recognized.
For the live cd I went through the network wizard, loaded the appropriate drivers from the netgear cd. wlan0 was recognized and I setup WPA again using the wizard, successfully obtaining an internet connection. After a hard drive install, I went thorugh the same setup but this time I can't see wlan0.
If I use ndiswrapper -l , I get
netwg11t : driver installed
but there is no 'hardware present' message.
I can see the card using the usb utility and the device id 1385:4251 corresponds to
/etc/ndiswrapper/netwg11t/1385\:4251.F file present.
Is there an error in the installation routine for 2.15 CE. I've attached dmesg output and /var/log/messages.Thanks in advance for any assistance
