Subject description: Puppy Ham Radio Logging for Field Day? |
|
edoc wrote: | The big Amateur Radio Field Day weekend is the last full weekend every June - making it the 26 & 27th this year.
I need a logging app for my laptop and have used cqrlog under Puppy in the past - but it was quite a while ago - I am not using Wary 030.
QUESTIONS:
Which of these should I download and what do I need to do to get them to work under Wary 030, please?
http://www.cqrlog.com/?q=node/4
cqrlog_0.9.3_install.tar.gz
cqrlog_0.9.3_bin.tar.gz
cqrlog_0.9.3_source.tar.gz
I am not really concerned about rig control right now, just need an app to enter contact info. This will help me to get familiar with that part of CQRLog and I can deal with the other features later.
WDYT? |
1st Download and install hamlib
http://www.puppylinux.asia/tpp/ttuuxxx/2.14series/other/hamlib-1.2.9-i386.pet
2nd download cqrlog_0.9.3_bin.tar.gz and unpack it anywhere, something like usr/share/cqrlog_0.9.3_bin could be good, doesn't matter it static.
Then open the folder and right click on /cqrlog_0.9.3_bin/cqrlog and Permissions from the bottom of options, then select "a+x (Make executable/searchable)" and click YES.
now click the bin and it will start, If you want me to do package it up simpler I will, like with a menu item. etc

It is now installed and appears to be working fine, thanks!
I am sure that will be helpful to others and I will try to post the link here to the various CQRLOG and other Ham-Linux sites later today.

Another Ham Pup. |

Hi Guys.
I can conform fldigi is an easy to get going app in Puppy, but...
I'm trying to get the jPSKmail app to work with it.
To that end, I need to get a working JRE on my system, and have failed miserably so far. See this thread I started earlier for details.
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=56934
Anyone here know what went wrong, and how to make it work?
The old compaq laptop works OK with fldigi, and has real com and lpt ports, as well as USB (if needed) And a good battery!
Any help/advice welcome. Intended use is to keep in touch from odd events, where mobile phone coverage is naff, but I have a 706mk2g on hand with an ATAS or wire and ATU.

Tnx fer link Thom.
The following quote is no disguised advertising, just showing off on my part as the lucky operator of this higher quality american made product:
Quote: | Company History
R.L. Drake was founded in 1943 by Robert L. Drake, a young engineer with a significant background in radio design for major industry concerns. The company began as a manufacturer of low pass and high pass filters for the government and amateur radio market. After World War II, the company applied its engineering expertise to the consumer market and started producing amateur or "ham" radio transmitters and receivers.
The company's amateur products soon became known as the "Cadillacs" of the ham radio field. Many of the Drake receivers, transmitters, and transceivers manufactured in the fifties, sixties, and seventies are still in active use today. Collectors and Drake aficionados will often pay twice the original market price to add such an item to their "Ham Shack". |
Drake is to Kenwood what Harley Davidson is to Suzuki, a way of life !

Yep....there is also a Drake mailing list that I maintain...you'll find information about it on the web page.
As soon as I get my antenna back in operation, I'll get one of the TR7s on the air...

mainly because ebay get enough PR/links without my free help....
also the long links mess up the page
To say untested, no PSU reminds me of several bits of expensive kit I have bought over the years
Half the fun of radio when I used to mess with it was figuring out how to get something working.....
times change....eyesight fades...things get smaller.....

Somehow the logic escapes me....seems like no matter how you do it, you're giving ebay free publicity.
I've seen people use things to shorten links...much more efficiently that pointing folks to another page that lets them visit yet another page.
