Abi wont open abi file?

#1 Post by jonyo »

All of a sudden, this come up..tried to drag the file to Open O & abi..no joy?
File just goes back (on it's own  ) to my docs.

No run action specified for files of this type (application/x-abiword) - you can set a run action by choosing `Set Run Action' from the File menu, or you can just drag the file to an application.

I don't know what happend to your associations.

But not being able to drag something from Rox sometimes looks like a bug I also often encounter.

The icon just "flies" back.
After some minutes, you can see some phantom-icons crossing the screen very fast.

When I move windows around, it works again after a while.

However, to solve your problem, you might set the run-action with a right-click on a .abw file in Rox.

thx. I did fiddle with default a bit (another thread) but don't remember changing the setting. Was pondering making open office default; couldn't open a word doc on the net with abi (plus i hadn't sorted out spellcheck) & turned out to be a bad link & not abi.

Fiddled a bit more & found out can open an abi file by starting abi first & finding the file, or right clicking & selecting open with... abiword.

As to set run action, not sure what to do. Page comes up with some options. Default is: 'Only for the type-application/x-abiword'. I assume I keep that?

or Set default for 'all-applications/<anything>'

Then there is an enter shell command box, that starts with "$@"

Not sure what to do there?

yes, only for application/abiword.

The "$@" stands for "the files you clicked on".

So your entry should be:

abiword "$@"
