I tried to download it in Windows 2000 and got:

Good work :)
I ran my old pup001 from Puppy 105.

.xinitrc and rc.local0 were overwritten, and I got a new background-image.

The rest seems to work as before, though I have installed dozends of Dotpups including x.org.

Good work.
After I patched image.gz to not use "F" with resize2fs, I also got rid of the annoying 60second-break at startup (seems Barry forgot to add that).

I think the new colors/background are a very good choice, and AlienX remasterscript will encourage me to buold a custimized puppy somewhen :)

Thanks Barry for all those efforts he made :P

Bravo for the timely release!

I had scheduled to present Puppy to my local Kitchener-Waterloo Linux User's Group. Luckily I checked to see if there was a new version before heading out to the meeting.

I only had time to burn 6 CDs but that was enough as most have access to high speed.

Everyone at the meeting was favorably impressed. It went really well even though I booted it without trying it first (I did not have enough time at home).

People had a lot of questions and I'm glad to report that puppy had the right answers.

I second MU's opinion on the choice of colors and background. They are really easy on the eye and transmit professional simplicity.

Great work puting it all together Barry.

A 15-minute upgrade? This is for real

#9 Post by raffy »

Woohoo!

This is my lucky day - visiting the other campus of the Univ 80 km away where there is real Internet connection, I was able to do a Puppy upgrade for 15 minutes! er, perhaps 20 ?

Got too eager to try it and forgot to watch the clock, but there must be some numbers for the record. :D

I know, "multisession Puppy" is a bit weak... perhaps a competition for best
name. Lobster is first in with "Sizzler"... or is that "Sizzle Puppy"?

Editing this post:
I have just seen your wiki page, Lobster, full name is "Puppy Sizzler"
...yeah, sounds good!

I keep forgetting when I create usr_devx.sfs, as mksquashfs creates it with
permissions 700. Now fixed.

Mark,
Yes, somehow I forgot about that.
Do you know the thread, or recall what was supposed to be fixed?
If I recall, there is an error message when it resizes the f.s., but a subsequent
f.s. check shows it as okay. Meaning, it is not a critical error, just annoying.
-- and of course will cause people great concern when they see it.
So, yeah, I do need to fix it.

Woo Hoo !
downloaded 1.0.6 , and fired up Bits on Wheels on the Mac Mini
was hitting 45 MB/s for a while !
I thought for a while I had a problem , as many of the up-loaders were only getting 3 to 5 MB/s ... then I realized that they are probably on Dial-up ! D'OH
I'll keep it uploading for week or so and let you know the Total :D

Appended: - a little more that an hour and 104 MB uploaded !
that's a full puppy .... and maybe one of the Tailless Breeds LOL

usr_devx.sfs should be updated too on the much faster nluug -mirror.
http://ftp.nluug.nl/ftp/pub/os/Linux/distr/puppylinux/
There is an old 31 MB-file.

Excellent release! Installation kept all previous configurations. Looks good. AbiWord now works very well, has everything I need but smart quotes (can run finished work through open office to automatically substitute curly quotes for straight ones). Puppy is really fine, now.

Hmmm, I would have thought their mirroring system would have taken
care of that. May have to contact them.
