How to install Conexant winmodem driver?

#1 Post by jacatone »

I found a Linux driver for my Conexant winmodem but not sure if it'll work or even how to install it. It's PCI 56K 2.2.17. Tried finding the free 14.4 driver on the Linuxant site but no luck. Anyone know if this'll work and if so, How do I install it? Thanks.

No. The reason it wont work is because it is an older driver for linux kernel 2.2, in this case 2.2.17.

You will not find a driver for your 2*** Puppy for this HSF modem that will work at full speed unless you spend 20 bucks here:

https://www.linuxant.com/store/

Then you will have to compile it and that is very difficult to do.

If you want to use Puppy with this modem download Puppy 1.09CE. It uses the 2.4 kernel and there is a dotpup from Jcoder that works at full speed.

Also 1.09CE is harder to use than 2.14.
