Wifi- Intel

#1 Post by Sirexel »

Hello everybody,

I have an IBM X31 laptop and I would like to work just with Puppy to learn faster a replacement for Win.

I have installed Puppy 1.0.4 and it's Great!!

I know there is not 'official' support for wireless still in Puppy.

I have read the Web pages and Wiki in searching for info about installing a wifi card. But until now I'm a good Win user but not a Linux one.

I read I need the drivers: they are here http://downloadfinder.intel.com/scripts ... ductID=944

I have not idea how to install the drivers. In the how to's I have read they talk about a DRIVE.o.gz file I can't find inside the drivers I downloaded.

I have tried also to make install (as drivers instructions) but nothing happens.

I'm lost. Please help.
Thanks in advance.
Sorry for my primitive english

Sirexel :)

Unforntunately these drivers require a 2.6.8 kernel, puppy-1.0.4 runs a 2.4.29 so they are not going to work......In the next day or so (work\girlfriend\kids\dogs\cats) permitting we'll (myself and blackadder) should have a nice little package to get you going....Hang in there please we need feedback from users such as yourself :)
