Edit SOLVED
I downloaded the tarball from here:
http://www.f-prot.com/download/home_use ... linux.html
I unzipped f-prot into /usr/local/f-prot/
I got the installation instructions here:
http://www.f-prot.com/support/helpfiles ... t_pro.html
Specifically this:
Note: I installed to /usr/local/f-prot/ not /opt/f-prot/, but this doesn't matter. The script takes care of this.
I installed the above xfprot-2.4.pet
Everything works perfectly.
I should have mentioned I am using QuirkyNop-1.2 frugal.

Installing using the installation script:
F-PROT Antivirus comes with an installation script called install-f-prot.pl. It can be found in the directory created when extracting the tarball. This installation script can be used to automatically configure your mailserver setup for in-transit mail scanning. If you choose to use this script, you can skip the next step titled "Installing manually." To run the script, you may change to the f-prot/ directory and execute it:
cd /opt/f-prot/
./install-f-prot.pl
Follow the instructions printed to the screen.
