My suggestion or question about the fvwm95 virtual desktop:

-when the mouse pointer is on the desktop (not on window or having control to window) and at the edge of the monitors screen, close to the middle of the edge, for 2 or more seconds
_____-and the screen isn't a boundary screen
__________-it goes to the screen adjacent

_____-and the screen is a boundary screen
_____-a dialog appears that says this is the boundary of the virtual desktop
__________would you like to make the virtual desktop bigger by (x,y)?
__________currently your desktop is (2,2) ok cancel etc
__________-make desktop (x,y), reboot, where are active windows, etc

You can drag a window left, then up, then left, then up then ...

You can drag a window right, then up, then right, then up then ...

you can drag a window down, then left, then down, then left then ...

you can drag a window .............................................

There are no boundaries to the infinite desktop.

Except..... memory? Storage? ???

infinite desktop rectangles - using the mouse..

You can turn this off, but you'll have to hand edit the config file of the window manager. Or maybe I'm thinking of Ice instead of Fvwm95.
