Well done everyone! This is a great distro. Finally, I can 'play' in Linux and learn something. And with puppy I am learning a lot. Thanks!
I have experimented installing on different desktop PCs and Puppy always installs effortlessly including the network connection using the network wizard.
I have a Compaq Armada laptop, PIII 500MHz, 384MB RAM, with a Dlink GWL G630 wireless pc card. On the laptop 2.14 installed OK, and, using the network wizard and ndiswrapper and the windows driver on the CD, I got the wireless working. Ditto the above on a desktop PIII 1GHz, 512RAM, with a Trendnet wireless card also using the drivers on the CD.
However, and, this is what this is about, Pizzapup will not do the same on both PCs. I have tried many times to install the driver. Once it even said that the hardware was detected but no go. The drivers can be found in the ndiswrapper folder. I used the command line as well.
ndiswrapper -i seems to install correctly.
ndiswrapper -l shows installed
modprobe can't remember the output
iwconfig shows no extensions for w0lan
Is the ndiswrapper an older version?
Any clues?
I am using 2.14 wirelessly connected to send you this.
Thanks!

I've never used Pizzapup (sorry Pizzasgood) but I noticed that in the steps you showed you missed a few
ndiswrapper -i <driver.inf>
ndiswrapper -l
ndiswrapper -m
modprobe ndiswrapper
ifconfig wlan0 up
iwconfig
I don't know what version of the wizard is included with Pizzapup but I'd recommend making sure it has the latest versions of the network wizard and the rc.network startup script.

ndiswrapper
Thanks. The 4 steps I listed are all there are in the network config page. I will try your suggestions but it was the network wizard that works well in 2.14 but not in pizzapup. I will share my results.
BTW pizzapup looks great. If only I had wireless......

ndis command line
Here are the results:
-l installed drivers
net5211 driver installed, hardware (168c:FF19) present
(This is correct as I learned from pup2.14)
-m modprobe config already contains alias directive
ifconfig
SIOCGIFFLAGS: no such device
Now what? Where can I look to fix this?
Thanks.

I'd recommend changing the title for this thread (edit your first post) to indicate that it is an issue with Pizzapup.
That way people that are using Pizzapup may be able to help you.
I've only tested oficial versions of Puppy but It is clear that the problem is not with the n network wizard but with the drivers.
Are you using ndiswrapper in 2.14?
Please post the list of loaded drivers that show in the first window of the "network wizard" in 2.14

Do you mean the "wireless wizard" or what "network config page" are you talking about? Ignore the "wireless wizard". That so called wizard was inacurate, It was finally removed in 2.14The 4 steps I listed are all there are in the network config page

This weekend I should have Pizzapup 3.0.1 finished, which is based on Puppy 2.14. I got way more done tonight than I imagined I would. All that's left is updating the icons and *.destktop entries, and testing.
It will have very few differences from Pizzapup 3.0 besides the stuff that changed from Puppy 2.12 to 2.14, which is why I've been able to get so far after only three sessions working on it. It should hopefully take care of your problem, along with some keyboard issues another person had.
If that doesn't work, but the standard 2.14 does, then I'll know that I fudged something up and I'll try to figure out what.

Thanks, but I already saw your post in the dev-forum and took care of it. I also mentioned it to WhoDo for 2.15CE.
