is it possible to run Sugar on Puppy?

#1 Post by bostonvaulter »

Simple question, how difficult would it be to run Sugar from OLPC on Puppy?

From what I know, one or two people are trying, so thanks for starting this thread, we can get more coders on board.

sugar uses a build environment based on jhbuild, which theoretically should fetch all required source packages from cvs and build them on your machine. I see no reason why it wouldn't work in Puppy but right now don't have the time or hard drive space to try building it. You would need the devx squashfile and you would also need to install cvs to get jhbuild working. There is also the possibility that you would need to install a bunch of oither software from source to fulfill dependencies, but without having tried it I can't say specifically.
