Thinkpadr40e Wireless Card Problem [Dlink DWL-G650 revC] |
|
I recently downloaded and booted puppy, successfully I might add. However, I can't... How to put this... Access the internet. Let me say in advance, I am a complete newbie when it comes to Linux, so you'll have to put things bluntly for me.
Now, I'm going to ask several questions.
1. Can someone link me to a page that would explain how to dual boot this with WinXP? I google'd it and didn't find anything.
2. Is there any way to boot up puppy without having to have the CD in the CD-Drive?
3. I can't access my internet using my D-Link DWL-G650 RevC[3] wireless internet card. I searched for a good half of the day for a driver, but couldn't find anything.

http://www.edgarbrits.net/puppy/NFS-1.0.4/cd-puppy.iso
This has support for your card, have a look with an editor at the file
/etc/rc.d/rc.local
It has an example of how to setuo your card.

I have 1.0.4 already, if that makes any difference.
When you give that example there, could you explain where I could put that in or around those lines?
Like I said, I'm a completely braindead moron when it comes to Linux.

The link I gave isn't a mainstream Puppy....Check under Announcement for more info..
As for examples....the version I put together already has them in the file I mentioned

Would I need a blank CD or anything? Becuase I used my last CD-R today in order to set up the booting process of puppy.

Uh huh
you sure would, unfornately
but hang in there cos it's well worth the wait, apart from the wireless support the GFX are smoother and quicker...Just when you first boot you just have to answer a few questions about your computer....
But when it asks for your graphics chipset and asks you to pick a driver pick the vesa driver

Okay, I have another question already. xD
If I somehow got my CD-R's to record more data, and I downloaded that original file you gave me, would I reboot my computer with that CD just like I did mainstream puppy?
