does the installer clear my usb disk?

I would like to try puppy linux on a usb drive, but the only usb drive I have now is my mp3 usb device
I'd use it for puppy, but I don't want to risk to lose the data in it or worst to compromise its functionality
can anyone tell me if the installation script of the live cd simply adds the puppy os files to the disk or does anything else?

The best advice I can give you is be safe. Copy your .mp3 files elsewhere, then run your install.

How much time does it take to be safe? How bad do you feel when music is lost?

Also, I don't know the answer to your question. So let others answer the specifics of a USB, install.
