It appears there is a bug in the madwifi 0.9.2 that Puppy 215CE uses.

I have compiled the modules for 0.9.3 and am running with them. I have a couple questions.
If there is interest...Would others be willing to review the modules to confirm the completeness and stability?
What is the right protocol to package and distribute these?
here's a snip of bootkernel.log

At the moment it is working using a D-LinkDWL-G650 with wpa on a Dell Inspiron 1100 running Puppy 2.15CE.
