wmweather in 2.15CE

#1 Post by mbutts »

i noticed down in the quick launch button on the lower left that there was a program called wmweather. im a weather program nut. i love any kind of cool weather software especially graphical or radar rich. i was finally able to get wmweather to work after installing libcurl pup and configuring it to my local weather reporting station.
with my reading of wmweather details i discovered there is a fancier version wmweather+. (it might be completely rewritten code wise im not sure ) has anyone gotten it to work? if so what did you do to make it work? i think it would be a cool addition to the CE edition. i was pleasantly surprised to see some dockapps included. (reminds me of dsl :D ) any idea of this will be kept in the CE version? if not id like to see if i can get wmweather+ going and if it is compatible with 2.15 maybe try my hand at making a petget.

Just updated Puppy 2.14 with Puppy 2,15CE. This new Puppy is a new breed of dog, it must have a lot of greyhound blood because I suspect it runs faster than 2.14, eventhough it's heavy on my machine. The wmweather is too cool. When 2.15 first moved into my machine, a severe weather condition was in the making, and wmweather sent up a severe weather warning flag for the area; it's a great addition to the puppy. I don't understand why it was necessary to load lipcurl pup. wmweather just worked when 2.15CE installed on my machine. 8)

You guys should also note the inclusion of ForecastFox as a plugin to Seamonkey in 2.15CE. You can have it display your local weather by right-clicking on the weather bar and choosing the Find Code button. That will help you locate your local weather station to make it the default.

Cheers

When I wrote my comments on wmweather it was when CE was still in testing. I think what you are commenting on is Forecastfox which was included on the final release of CE. Wmweather should appear in the lower right hand corner of the screen. Here is a link to some pictures of it.

wmweather + looks like this.
http://dockapps.org/file.php/id/112

Then there is Forecastfox and Enhanced Forecastfox. Enhanced has more things added to it. Most notable is the ability to have animated radar in a much larger window and the ability to add satellite cloud imagery on top of the radar data. I don't know if you can add Enhanced Forecastfox in Seamonkey but either will work in Firefox. They are called extensions for anyone who is a noob to Firefox. To add extensions or themes in Firefox go to Tools, and then click Add-ons.
I'm glad it was helpful for you to have it available when you had bad weather. I know Flash would like to delete it, as probably most people living in San Diego or Hawaii since the weather never changes that much.
There are other things in life that do not seem to change much. For example: If you are not the lead dog of a dog sled, the scenery never changes...... If you are using Windows.... its still just Windows.....
Cheers!
