hello everyone
we got involved in a project about digital tv; we need a pc to show video + some other things (adverts, text, etc).
As to stability and costs, we thought about a linux solution rather than Windows, and I have seen some nice comments about Puppy, so I thought it could be a good distro to use...
Somebody here suggested it would be nice to boot from a CF, he insists it's quicker than from HD (anybody here could confirm this?), because we would need a quick boot time.
To properly work with our DVB card, a latest (2.6.13) kernel release is needed,
Can Puppy be trained for what I want to do?

Re: Is puppix what we need?
Hi Raul
The 2.6 Kernel was used in Puppy 1.0.2
As the 2.6 kernel was not working with NTFS we went back to 2.4
Barry is attempting to allow Puppy a choice of kernels but I am not sure how that is progressing . . .
I suggest you familiarise yourself with Puppy unleashed and Puppy Sourcer http://www.goosee.com/puppy/development ... cratch.htm
It is most likely and credible that Neil Armstrong walked on the moon (the world is not flat incidently)
Hopefully your other questions will be answered too.
Good Luck.

Can't really help that much with most of your questions - hopefully others will chip in.
For fast bootup puppy is exceptional - about 15 seconds on my sempron 2200+ 512Mb 80Gb HD system. Booting from a Hard Disk option 2 install (option 2 install simply means having a whole partition dedicated to puppy linux.
Regarding the Compact Flash idea - see here
