Favourite DotPups and PupGets

#1 Post by Lobster »

I must say that downloading new software is fun . . .

Here are my current favs:

Radio Puppy - this is great, I hope we manage to have it tied in to an updated
page on the wiki - Xine has a list of radio stations (much updated on the new version in 1.0.5 so more chance of working)
. . . just listening to Dinah Washingon . . . whilst typing . . . 8)

Inkscape - If you use structured drawing packages - I have been using them for DTP and all sorts for years - this should be familiar. (Sodipodi which comes with Puppy is flawed only by its interface which is incomprehensible - Inkscape is based on it but it is at least 10 times bigger)

Gimp (Pupget) - I remember when this became available for Puppy - I use it to create logos - very useful

Sing Dinah!
Which are your indispensible add-ons?

Radio Puppy ... all three of them ;-)

Ticker, though it needs work as it layers the second RSS on top of the previous instead of automagically deleting the prior selection.

Wag & Wireless would be if I could get them to work with my Buffalo G54 ;-(

WakePup would be if I could get my 600X to behave and see the USB stick on boot ;-(

I really really like Puppy and just need to learn more about it so I can create and share some dotpups and make greater use of it. For the most part it does everything I ask Suse 9.2 to do (and some things Suse fails to do) to do and does it all better!

I've uploaded a new version,get it here!

With this version you only need click the dog buttons and uncomment the line "killall ticker.app".
I leave the line commented out as those who has Icedock may want more than one RSS scrolling at one time. That looks very cool too! 8)

Btw, you can change their position so that they won't cover one another. Click the dog button and change the argument after -pp

"-pp, --popup-pos [+|-]x[+|-]y position of popup window"

IceWM, because it's cooler than cold
Timidity, because midis are small, but I have megabytes worth
Radio, because I can listen to spy music
Gimp, because it can make a pizza superimposed on a cd
