This is a HP UM9800-U USB winmodem and shows as having a Lucent Mars chipset.

No configuration necessary! Just ran modem wizard.
Works very well on a P500 w/ 1G RAM. Will occasionally lock up the connection under heavy load but, a quick disconnect and reconnect and I'm back in business. By the way this modem also occasionally locks up on my Athlon 64 3200+ w/ 2G RAM running windows 2000

PS I forgot to mention It works using the tty/sl0, US, USB setting, which is, I belive the setting for a smartlink usb modem.
