Can I keep the same save file if I upgrade from Alpha?
Can I keep the same save file if I upgrade from Alpha?
Is it just a general warning not to use the pup save file from Alpha when booting from Beta, so will not cause damage to it if there is hidden bugs in the beta, or doing so will definitely break the system ? I asked because I don't want to do the setting again if I can keep it.
Do you Yahoo ? No I hiccup only

It is not just a general warning
If you are using alpha or beta versions of Puppy you should expect them to break. In fact you should test them to breaking point and report back
the last stable version is 2.16.1
2.17 "Dancer" will be out hopefully in the next couple of weeks

If you have created a pup_save with 2.17alpha and want to upgrade it to 2.17beta, yeah, go for it.
If booting the live-cd, enter boot parameter puppy "pfix=clean" within the first 5 seconds of bootup, this will upgrade the pup_save file.
Alternatively, edit /etc/puppyversion and change the version from '217' back to '216' then reboot. That will also cause an upgrade.
