Encrypted pup001 failed on USB 1.0.2

I got the USB version to work in normal unencrypted mode, but when I did a complete reinstall with the encrypted file system it gave an error.

I looked ok - asked for a password,
then it asked for the password again and reported a bad superblock and suggested I do

e2fsck -b 8193 /dev/sda1

I couldn't do this as esfsck has to run on an unmounted device and I can't unmount devsda1

I don't think anybody has tried that encryption thing for a long time.
I've written it down in my notebook...

Out of curiousity, I opened my pup100 file as text, and the first thing I see is the password repeated about a dozen times. Not very secure...
